Sadly, I am severely bandwidth constrained at the moment so can't watch your screen cast. Where is the best write up of all this, please?

There are a few blog posts that have been posted to the DotNetNuke blog. A search for the terms Blog and 3.5 from your favorite search engine should provide a list of some of the recent posts. Antonio Chagoury is the team lead that's been posting, so adding his name to the search may make it easier to find these entries. Some of his recent posts have links back into the earlier posts that covered some of the updates.

Hi Don,
Thanks you guys for a good work! However, is this blog module compatible with DNN 5.0.0? I have installed on DNN 5.0.0 successful, but when I try to create a blog I get this error below on one of the section:
View_Blog An error has occurred. DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.NavigationControl.SolpartMenuNavigationProvider.Bind(DNNNodeCollection objNodes) at DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.SolPartActions.BindMenu(DNNNodeCollection objNodes) at DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.SolPartActions.Page_PreRender(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- How to fix this? Regards,
Abu

Hi Abu,
I'm certainly happy to help troubleshoot the best I can, but the DNN Blog module forum is the best place for troubleshooting issues like this.

From the error you pasted above, it appears that there is an issue with the SolpartMenuNavigationProvider. Is this a standard DNN 5 installation, or are there some third party modules you've added?
Thanks,
Don

Hi Don, Yes it is standard DNN, however there are third party module which I have added on "module defination" but are not connected with Blog module. I can uninstall the third party modules and try to re-install again, is that what you suggest?
Thanks,
Abu

Hi Abu,
It doesn't take long at all to install a new instance of DNN 5, so I would do that and see if you get the same error when you install the blog module. If you don't, then you can add the other third party modules one by one testing the blog module each time to see if it still works properly.

Don

Hi Don, I am getting the same issue as Abu. I am using DNN 5.0 and have a skin installed with it own CSS friendly menu. I am guessing after your suggestion that this may be causing the issue. This is somewhat irritating as I am unable to get the module options of the blog module. This is a bit of PITA , is the blog module closely ties up to the SOLPARTMENU?

Hi Gary,
I noticed in the comment Dario wrote in the following Gemini entry that there may be a workaround to this:

I would recommend Ventrian's News Articles module if you are looking for an alternative, a live example can be seen at my personal blogs.
